LOCKERS MANAGEMENT Plugin

ADDONXPERT logo

LOCKERS MANAGEMENT turns any locker fleet into a service driven from Genetec Security Center. One locker = one Genetec door, one user = one cardholder, one booking = a time-based access rule. No third-party application to install server-side: all the logic relies on Security Center's native entities and access rules.

The plugin covers the 3 locker topologies observed on the market, each independently activatable:

    • Standalone mode - direct badging on the locker: each locker is equipped with a reader. The cardholder badges on a free locker, it is immediately booked for them. Badging again on their locker → released. Zero screen, zero application server, only Genetec access rules.

    • Assisted mode - entrance reader badging with automatic assignment: the cardholder badges on the reader placed at the entrance of the locker room; the plugin selects a free locker and displays it on the tablet. The cardholder can then open their locker as many times as they wish with their badge. Release is done by badging again on the entrance reader then touching Release on the screen.

    • Kiosk mode - interactive station with cabinet map: the lockers have no reader; they are driven by controller I/O (opening relay, status contact). When badging on the identification reader of the zone, the user sees the cabinet map on the tablet and selects the locker of their choice. Opening and release are performed from the tablet.

    • Configurable expiration (Standalone & Assisted modes): daily (ending at 23:59:59), fixed duration from 1 to 120 hours, or aligned with the cardholder expiration (automatically extended as long as their contract runs). On expiration, a locker that has not been emptied moves to the blocked state and accepts no further booking, until an emergency badge intervenes – a deliberate protection of the cardholder's belongings.

    • Administrator emergency badge: a single badge, a single permanent rule attached to all locker doors, operational even when the role is stopped. On a free locker it books; on its own locker it releases; on a third party's locker it triggers an administrative release traced in the reports.

    • Security Desk reports: the plugin adds two custom tasks – Locker bookings (viewable by locker or by cardholder: reservation date, expiry, release, duration and status) and Locker activity (full history of badgings and operations). Role database auto-provisioned, no separate SQL installation.

    • Zero per-locker configuration: add a door to a managed area, it becomes a locker – including via sub-areas. The plugin creates the ancillary Genetec entities for you (cardholder groups, access rules, custom marking field) and recreates them on the fly if they are deleted by mistake.

Usage

Configuration of Standalone & Assisted modes
Standalone and Assisted modes share the same configuration page - Assisted mode simply adds a tab to pair the locker room tablets:

  • Selection of Genetec areas whose doors are lockers
  • Choice of the expiration mode
  • Cardholder groups and emergency badge
  • Tablet pairing (Assisted mode only)

Kiosk mode configuration
The Kiosk mode has its own configuration in 3 dedicated tabs - the physical topology is richer since the plugin itself drives the lockers:

  • Zones: the access points of the locker rooms (one tablet = one zone)
  • Cabinets: the physical grid of lockers (columns × rows) to reproduce the map on screen
  • Tablets: the terminals that display the interactive map to users

Operational use
Depending on the chosen mode, the user experience differs but the Security Desk ergonomics remain unified:

  • Real-time tracking of locker status (free / booked / expired / blocked)
  • Locker bookings report viewable by locker or by cardholder (reservation date, expiry, release and duration)
  • Locker activity report with full operation history
  • Secure tablet app (encrypted pairing and communication), immersive full-screen display
  • Administrative release via emergency badge - traced in the activity report

Security Desk reports

The plugin adds two dedicated tasks in Security Desk to track locker status in real time and the full operation history.

Tablet app - Kiosk mode

The Kiosk mode Android app guides the user in a few screens: from the invitation to badge to the opening of the chosen locker on the map.

Frequently Asked Questions

Overview

What is the LOCKERS MANAGEMENT plugin?

LOCKERS MANAGEMENT is an ADDONXPERT plugin that turns any locker deployment into a service driven from Genetec Security Center. A locker = a Genetec door, a user = a cardholder, a booking = a time-based access rule. No third-party application to install server-side - all logic relies on Security Center native entities and access rules.

What are the 3 supported locker topologies?

Standalone mode (direct badging on a locker equipped with a reader), Assisted mode (entrance reader badging with automatic assignment of a free locker), Kiosk mode (interactive station with cabinet map, lockers driven by controller I/O). All 3 modes can be enabled independently on the same site.

What benefits does this approach offer compared with a standalone locker solution?

Zero application server to maintain, reuse of cardholders and badges already in Security Center, video/access/locker correlation on a single Security Desk operator workstation, and fast deployment by simply adding a role and Genetec access rules - no technical silo, no dual administration.

Compatibility & requirements

Which Genetec Security Center versions are supported?

Genetec Security Center 5.12, 5.13 and 5.14.

Is the plugin compatible with Security Center SaaS?

No. The plugin requires an on-premise Security Center deployment because it installs as a native Genetec server role. Security Center SaaS is not supported at this time.

What tablet hardware is required for the Assisted and Kiosk modes?

Any compatible Android tablet works with the dedicated app provided by ADDONXPERT (Assisted and Kiosk modes). Pairing between the tablet and the Security Center role is secured (TLS + encrypted token) and operational communication is over HTTPS.

Features

How does the Standalone mode work (direct badging on locker)?

Each locker is equipped with a reader. The cardholder badges on a free locker and it is immediately booked for them. Badging again on their own locker releases it. Zero screen, zero application server: just Genetec access rules automatically applied by the plugin.

How does the Assisted mode work (automatic assignment via tablet)?

The cardholder badges on the reader placed at the locker room entrance. The plugin automatically picks a free locker and displays it on the tablet. The cardholder can then open their locker as many times as they wish with their badge. Release is done by badging again on the tablet then tapping Release.

How does the Kiosk mode work (station with cabinet map)?

Lockers have no reader; they are driven by controller inputs/outputs (opening relay, status contact). When the user badges on the identification reader of the zone, they see the cabinet map on the tablet and select the locker of their choice. Opening and release are done from the tablet.

What expiration modes are available and what happens on expiry?

Three expiration modes (Standalone and Assisted): daily (ends at 23:59:59), fixed duration from 1 to 120 hours, or aligned with the cardholder expiration (extended automatically as long as their contract runs). On expiry, a locker that has not been emptied moves to the blocked state and accepts no further booking, until an administrator emergency badge intervenes - a deliberate protection of the cardholder belongings.

How does the administrator emergency badge work?

A single badge with a single permanent rule attached to all locker doors, operational even when the role is stopped. On a free locker it books ; on their own locker it releases ; on a third-party locker it triggers an administrative release traced in the activity reports.

What reports are available in Security Desk?

The plugin adds two custom tasks: Locker bookings (viewable by locker or by cardholder: reservation date, expiry, release, duration and status) and Locker activity (full history of badge events and operations). The role database is auto-provisioned - no separate SQL installation.

Licenses

What licenses are required?

ADX-LOCKERS-BASE (base plugin license) + SMA-LOCKERS-1Y to 5Y (mandatory annual maintenance, from 1 to 5 years) + one Genetec SDK connection (GSC-1SDK-ADDONXPERT-LOCKERS) per Security Center server.
